I would think that with the number of visitors daily, they could afford to lower the price a bit. It was really crowded when we were there, so its not like they get few visitors and have to jack up the price for that reason. No one is 100% certain as to why she built the house the way she did, but there are theories (one being that she wanted to confuse the spirits that were haunting her). Personally, I think the story of Sarah Winchester is really interesting. Our tour guide was pretty good and she seemed really knowledgeable about the house. I've read some other reviews that complained about their tour guides so I think this is going to be a hit of miss thing. However, we had read reviews before coming so we had already known that it was going to be an expensive tour.
